Painted canvas 2'X4' butterfly floor cloth. Gorgeous! This painting is ready to ship!

Durable, decorative and environmentally practical.

Floorcloths have been around for a very long time, and for the past several years have been increasing in popularity as home owners are removing carpeting and refurbishing hardwood floors. If you suffer from allergies replacing your carpeting with floorcloths may be helpful. They do not hold dirt, pet fur or dander as the surface is smooth and easy to maintain. My floorcloths are made with water based products that do not "off gas" as carpeting does.

A floorcloth has two elements to it, durability and design. Durability is very important as the floorcloth is exposed to extreme temperature and humidity changes throughout the year. A floorcloth at an entranceway must also be able to withstand melting snow, rock salt, sand and grit.

If you are looking for a floorcloth, design is of course important to ensure that the floorcloth fits in with the surrounding decor, but it is necessary to keep in mind that the floorcloth will be subjected to abuse, people will be walking on it after all. A floorcloth that will last will lie perfectly flat on the floor, with no warps in the canvas and edges that stay down, not curved upwards. It will not crack when rolled up, this is a sign of an inferior finish and could mean that the floorcloth will crack when molding to imperfections in your floor or on ceramic tile. The floorcloth must be primed and sealed on the back to ensure that it is waterproof. Taking these things into consideration when making a floorcloth purchase will help to ensure that your floorcloth will last for years.

Care for your Floocloth- A floorcloth can stiffen up in cold weather; however, once warmed it becomes flexible again. Therefore, after receiving uour floorcloth, let it reach room temperature before unrolling. After unrolling, the floorcloth should then be set on the floor and allowed to flatten out naturally. Do not force it to flatten. It will flatten with time.

Installing your floorcloth:
Floorcloths are not recommended for use over carpet, but are designed for use on hard even floors. Before installing your floorcloth, clean the floor thoroughly by vacuuming. Small dirt particles may be cleared by damp mopping.

Non-skid rubber padding:

I recommend the use of no-skid rubber pad (rug gripper), available at most home -improvement or carpet stores. This provides an additonal grip and reduces wear and tear. Make sure the legs of any furniture that will be used on top of the floorcloth have protective glide caps or felt pads attached to the bottom.

How to clean your floorcloth:

Do not fold or bend your floorcloth. Do not leave your floorcloth outside in the weather or sitting in water.

Floorcloths should be cleaned periodically to remove dirt. After vacuuming the floorcloth, flip the corners back and vaccum underneath the edges. If soiled, wipe the surface with mild soapy water or white vinegar and water. Do not use heavy duty cleansers which may damage the paint or those that leave a sticky film on the surface such as Murphy oil soap. If ever your floorcloth gets damaged or the edge appears worn after a few years; lightly scrub the affected area using saopy water, let dry and touch up with the matching color of acrylic paint. Lightly sand the loose paint, if any: before applying the paint. I will be happy to repair your floocloth for a small fee, but they last a long time.

I hope this answers your questions:) This particular floorcloth was just packaged and ready to ship if you are interested.
I also include a mini Slice of the Beach print and easel with a purchase of a floorcloth.

Warm regards,

Frequently asked questions about floorcloths

What else can floor cloths be used for?

The possibilities are endless. Ideal for picnic table covers, table cloths, yoga mat, food catcher under a baby's highchair, beach mat, cat or dog messy mat for food water and of course your walls.

Can I walk on it?

Yes, you can walk, run, dance and even roller blade on it. Ice skates however are not recommended.

What if I do not want to place it on the floor?
No problem! You can have this canvas hung professionally by a framer to hang on your wall.

How long will it last?
A floorcloth will last for many years as long as it is securely taped to the floor with double-sided carpet tape. If the floorcloth ever starts to lift simply replace the tape. Do not use hot water to clean your floorcloth.
