Handmade-to-order rustic perfume pen made from Curly Maple. Chrome or Gold hardware gives this a rustic yet rich look and super smooth feel. Perfect for the on-the-go woman that wants to revitalize her beautiful fragrance. Can be kept in a pocket or purse.

Dip the applicator tip while in the pen, into the perfume of your choice and hold it for about a minute. This will soak up the perfume into the wick inside. The white applicator tip will swell and stay in place when filled with liquid. Cap seals with a rubber gasket to keep your perfume from evaporating. Before refilling the perfume pen, remove and clean applicator tip by soaking it in rubbing alcohol.

Weighs 0.59 oz (empty). No cost shipping to U.S. All other countries not listed, please inquire before purchasing. I welcome custom orders as well.

Maple (Curly, Birds Eye, Figured): Comes from the United States and Canada. Scientific name: acer saccharum. Sometimes has unbelievable grain patterns ranging from curly to flamed to fiddlebacked. Also, natural occurrences found predominately in hard maple causes "eyes" to form that give a striking figure to the wood. Straight grain with intermittent eyes makes this a great accent wood. Color ranges from light cream to darker tones of brown and anything in-between randomly throughout the wood. Grain-ends can have a tendency to darken when finished.

..............

How it's done:

I get the wood generally in large boards and cut down to a small size called a "blank". Sometimes I obtain the wood already cut to a blank. It is generally about 3/4 to 7/8 inch in diameter and 5 to 6 inches long.

Next, I cut it to the appropriate length for the style of pen I am making.

Next, I carefully drill a varying diameter hole (anywhere from 7mm to 11.5mm) through the blank in order to insert the brass tube support body for the pen.

Next, the brass tubes are epoxy glued into the wood after being sanded to give the epoxy glue something to grip.

Next, after the glue has cured for some time, I true the ends to make them as flush as possible so that the pen's hardware components can fit snug.

Next, I put the wood blanks on my lathe and gently turn them down to whatever profile I desire or to the metal bushing guides or to your specifications.

Next, I sand the wood to make it super smooth and give it a finished profile and apply the finish. This process can be anywhere from 13 to 20 steps, depending on the wood.

Lastly, I use a pen press to assemble all the hardware onto the newly turned wood body.

The pen is ready for use now!
