Here are 2 adorable Vintage Nun figurines playing baseball by Thames Japan that I found at a recent estate sale.

A few different manufacturer's and importers like Lefton, Napco and also Thames Japan brought these fun figurines to the USA during the 1950's and 1960's. Since then, these cuties have been a favorite with many collectors.

Both nuns are wearing gray, white and black habits with some gold colored trim as well.

One nun is the baseball catcher with a light brown mitt.
The other nun is an umpire with 2 fingers in the air for 2 outs or 2 strikes as her baseball signal.

Both figurines have lovely facial expressions with nice detail to them. The long eye lashes and rosy cheeks are so sweet.

Each figurine measures about 5 inches tall and measures about 2 3/4 inches across on the base.
Measurements are approximate.

On the base of one figurine it is marked with a red number that indicates it was imported by Thames Japan. There is some rub to the marking but it is there.
The other one does not have a numbered stamp, just a teeny bit of red ink remains now.

These figurines are a bit harder to find than many and would make a nice addition to your collection or if you like all things baseball.

I gently wiped these down with a soft cloth, but they could use a better cleaning. I will leave any further cleaning up to the new owner.
On the tips of the umpire's fingers, I can feel some roughness and a teeny chip that is about the size of a grain of rice. In that same spot there is some storage dirt which I have not tried to clean off.

On the catcher figurine, the finger tips feel a bit rough to the touch. There is an extra bit of ceramic on her habit that juts out abit, but this is from when it was originally made.

Both figurines have overall crazing from age.

There is some paint rub or paint loss on both from storage, usage and display over the years. I note some scratches and storage wear. There are some bubble bursts and pops to the glaze and the ceramic.
When originally hand painted, some colors transferred onto other parts of the figurines.

Overall, a cute pair of baseball nun figurines that offer that whimsical touch to your collectibles.
