I just finished this hair barrette with beaded stick. It is just 3 1/2 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches long (top to bottom) the moose-leg bone stick is 6 inches in length, and the back is covered by deer hide (has smoke smell). The inner hair stick holes measure right under 1 3/4 inches apart, and so this barrette will work and stay in hair that is thinner than normal. I would advise a person to place a rubber-band in the hair first and then only place the stick and barrette into half of the hair, allowing the band to hold it in place. The beads are sewn directly onto the native tanned moose hide. Not only are you buying a well made barrette, you are getting a truely unique item, that will last for years to come. This barrette is signed. The glass seedbeads I used are size 11; the colors are dark orange solid matte, dark red silver lined, clear rootbeer brown, clear tan matte, solid grey, and clear ab light blue. *this piece could also be used as a scarf tie, or slide.
