A 1950 8in. Simplified Globe by Replogle Globes, Inc. accompanied by a Booklet "See the World on a Globe" Copyright 1951

Replogle entered the tin toy globe market in the late 40's producing a limited selection of tin globes and globe games. This was an effort to compete with the popular toy globe manufacturers J. Chein and Ohio Art Co. but after the WW2 even these companies were feeling the pressure of the up and coming Japanese who could produce tin toys much more economically.

With bright playful colors this small world was meant to entice children into the world of geography! The globe is accompanied by a booklet entitled "See the World on a Globe" an incentive booklet offered with many of Replogle's globes in the 1950's but specifically designed for our globe which offers a storage area in the base. An informative and interesting booklet for adults and children alike. It informs the reader on the instructional use of the globe, the history of the globe and most interestly Geo-Political statements relative to the time period of the globe. It discusses world strategy in domination terms with regard to Hitler and Russia, at the close of WW2 and the onset of the Cold War! Globe games can be found at the back of the book...these games will later be retailed by Replogle in a set of Globe and game pieces.

Although the globe is simplified if still offers may place names, cities and capitals.
The political borders displayed include; Indochina (no longer French 1950), Thailand (changed from Siam in 1949), East & West Pakistan (1947), Israel (created in 1948) , Libia (note the spelling from Libya) still has yet to gain it's independence from Italy (will become independent in 1951)

The condition of the globe is very good with a slight dimple in Alabama and some slight scuffing. There is some slight oxidation on the base that can be felt and two spots that can be seen as a faded spots. Some very slight oxidation on the globe that appear as very slight, very small darkened spots. The book has wear to the edges of the jacket, a tear and tape that has been adhered to the binding. The binding is tight and all pages are accounted for.
