Book Plates are placed on the inside covers of your books in your library. History shows us that plates have been employed for hundreds of years to insure that books are returned to their rightful owner.

The surface of these plates have been enhanced with a decorative treatment consisting of materials and techniques that define Ebru, the Turkish style of paper marbling. Originating in the late 15th century, the process of Ebru provides a one of a kind decorative pattern on each plate.

Pattern: Spanished Small Spot, or Spanished Italian
The pattern found on these book plates is the Spot or Italian. This pattern has been distorted by shaking the paper as it was applied to the paint. It’s pallet is modeled after an Italian pattern typical of the middle to late 18th century. The colors are Green, Gray, red, and yellow.
