I grew up in Montana and currently live in Maine. Every summer, I fly back to Montana with my boys to visit family and have them experience the West. Annually, we go to the National Bison Range to watch the Bison roam. We also love Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. My graphic design style is definitely influenced by Inuit art and that of the Pacific Northwest. In college, I had a work- study at the Bowdoin Perry MacMillan Arctic Museum and fell in love with the whimsy and playful nature of of images hidden inside of silhouettes. I love sgraffito clay and often find myself blocking shapes and patterns in my own art to make the design more intriguing.

This design of a bison was originally drawn by hand in graphite and then completed in ink and marker. After scanning the drawing, I digitized the lines and shapes and pushed the contrast. This American Bison design has a few hidden images: Old Faithful Geyser, an eagle, and landscape (mountains, river, sun). Can you find them all?

The Bison has been cut out of walnut, cherry, and maple plywood. Hanging hardware has been attached to the backing using adhesive.

There are two size options:
Medium: 10.5" x 7.75" x .5"
Large: 15" x 10.5" x .5"

I make all of my items at my home in Maine (when I am not teaching art to high school students or chasing after my sons). All of my items are "small-batch" items made one at a time. If you have a question, or are interested in more quantity, please let me know.
