This intriguing Ernst Haeckel (1834 - 1919) illustration was printed in Germany on heavy weight stock with wonderful attention to detail. It is an original modern bookplate reproduction of Haeckel's artwork from 'Monograph on Radiolarians', a collection of thirty-five copper plates published in 1862. While the variety and detail of Haeckel’s drawings display an impressive understanding of biological structure, the skill with which Haeckel drew these tiny aquatic protozoa renders them genuine works of art.

Print measures 9.375"x12.125". Paper is heavy and has a gentle sheen. There are no creases, wrinkles, marks or spots on this print. All marks appearing on this print are from the rare, hand colored original, which was used to create this book print.
