My mother and I have collected 350 parasols with the majority (approx. 325 of them) from the 1860s and before. This is one of the largest collections concentrated in one area. We collected these parasols for me not only to recover as a business, but for my Master's thesis. I became the foremost authority on English and American parasols between the years 1850-1870s due to this collection and dating collections in the Museum of Costume in Bath, England, Hereford and Worchester County Museum, in Worchester, England, Museum of London, The Metropolitan Museum of New York, the Ohio Historical Society, and other historical societies and private collections.

Our collection consists of: carriage parasols (the majority are) with marquis top, straight handled parasols, telescopic, square tops, some with their original boxes or covers, whale bone ribs, metal ribs, coral handled, pagoda tops, and anything you can think of.

handles: bone (plain to carved), ivory (plain to heavily carved), all different types of wood, jewelled, inset with mother-of-pearl, coral insets, etc.

covers: most are deteriorated, but have the textiles present to see what the color and textiles were of the day. Have a large collection of chantilly lace covered parasols which are intact.

condition: the covers may be deteriorated, but most of the parasols are in condition that could be recovered.

Years: Have a couple that date around 1800, 1830s-1860s. Have a few but not many that go into the next century, but that was not the focus.

The price is non-negotiable, but what is negotiable is the shipping. All the parasols are neatly packet away in boxes and can come with the parasols. Mom and I would not have a problem driving half way to deliver the items to you so you can pick it up as well. For overseas, will have to charge, but the price quoted is a bargan since it will cost much more to ship.

Research: all of my research that has been done on the parasols come with the parasols. If you want a copy of my thesis, I will be more than happy to give you a copy as well (that is 202 pages of text and color photographs and drawings to help identify the parasols age and all the little details needed for the 20 years).

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I have photos of the collection, but this is for SERIOUS inquires. As of this time, the collection stays intact and we are not splitting the collection up due to this being the largest collection of 20 years of parasols in one place.

Lot of 350 original parasols - SERIOUS buyers only.
