My love and admiration for the artistry of tins was what first drove me into major collecting.

This VERY vintage tin is among the finest I've ever been lucky enough to have. Made some time between 1900 and 1910, it is a French tin which features a woman, dressed in appropriate "hunting garb" and carrying a gun, off hunting with her Beagle doggie (I'm a sucker for any dog). There are mountains and hills in the background, and the woman and dog are on grass, the dog sniffing around.

On the side of this tiny tin (the words too small to capture on camera), it says: "Marque Depossee - Femina Sports."

This beauty has an hourglass shape and is 1 3/* at its widest and 1 3/4" long. The top opens (see photos)."

For a HIGHLY collectible and rare tin that is over a hundred years old, this lithographed tin is in better than exceptional shape: the lithograph itself is extremely clear and stark and the colors have remained remarkably vibrant. Almost NO scratches are on the lid of this tin.

This tin stands as a generous and striking reminder of the kind of beautiful ART that once went into making tins (normally tins of this small sort held mints, so when people purchased a very cheap bunch of mints, they got this tin, which was then considered just a way to advertise and lure customers).

Now, it is a MAJOR collector's item.

A true beauty from over a hundred years ago.
