ITEM DESCRIPTION: This terribly smart centerpiece dish is the ultimate statement piece. Possessing perfect poise and timeless grace, it adds sophistication to any space and tops it off with a touch of whimsy and sly humor. Pair it with a classic martini to drive men mad and enjoy the best of mid-century style.

DECOR STORY: Thorpe is the preeminent glass designer of the 20th century, and her most enduring works are in silvered glass. This dish is called a handkerchief bowl because its form resembles a cloth draped over an object, then inverted. This look was copied by many glass designers, but none attained the perfection of this simple, daring form. It is formed of molded textured glass which is rough on the inside, smooth on the outside and it features artfully applied sterling brushmarks that highlight the onlay.

MORE: We currently have several Thorpe pieces for sale:

CONDITION: The bowl is in excellent condition, with no chips, nicks, or cracks. The silver is lacquered, and some is bright while other parts (most noticeably the outer edges) are darker giving it an ombre appearance.

SIZE: 13” in diameter at its widest point, and 4.5” high

CIRCA: 1950s

SHIPPING: Because this item is breakable, the shipping costs automatically include insurance.
