This adorable, RARE cookie jar (now listed on eBAY for $425) is called "Figaro" or "Kittens with Yarn." The American Bisque cookie jar is a large yellow ball of yarn and has two black and white kittens at play. It was produced in the early 1950s and bears the American Bisque signature of large, unglazed feet. The cookie jar stands 10 1/2" tall and is 5" in diameter at the rim. The base measures 8 1/2" by 6." This cookie jar can be found on page 50 in the book by Mark and Ellen Supnick, "The Wonderful World of Cookie Jars." According to the book, this jar’s book value is $600.00 to $625.00. As the pictures show, it has some crazing that is visible on the inside and on the back of the outside of the jar above the back foot. This crazing on the outside back creeps just above a section of the bottom of the jar and is difficult to see when it is on the counter. No crazing exists anywhere on the front of the jar! There are NO chips, the lid is in great shape and rests nicely on the top. Additionally, the top cat "handle" shows its vintage nature with specks of black paint missing mostly from its right hip and its glazing is duller than the bottom cats. Both kittens' faces are without imperfections. This jar is by far the most eye-catching one I have seen, as its charm is unmatched by those collectors find time and time again at antique stores or auctions! This one was discovered at an estate sale of an elderly woman and it garnered a lot of attention and discussion. Its shipping weight is 7 to 8lbs and much care will be taken to safely deliver it to your door. This item will be fully insured through the postal service. If shipping costs are less than listed, you will be reimbursed, but I will only ship via Priority Mail at the least.
