This flirty little elf coat is full of sparkle, glitz and glam! The big-button front ensures the chill stays away, and the long waist ties add a little more to pull it all together. The hood brim is stuffed for more structure when it's up, and falls fetchingly across the shoulders when down. It's got TWO flirty hems to match the skirt panels. This skirt is unlined, but that doesn't stop it from swirling deliciously around your legs as you move, but if you prefer, you can add a satiny lining to the skirt of this coat by purchasing the "ADD A LINING" listing in my shop.

The soft, cabled bodice is peppered with sparkly clear sequins, and shot through with silver metallic thread, but is soft and stretchy . The waist is lined in non-stretchy black courderoy with red, pink & white flowers. The skirt is light and airy, and has tons of fun swirl. The sleeves are slightly flared, and feature a thumbhole if you choose to use it. This is a cute and sassy coat that can be dressed up for a special occasion, and can just as easily go "au casual" with jeans & Uggs :-).

The bust is 30" when laying flat, but is stretchy. The waistband measures 3 3/4" wide, and is 34" around, and does NOT stretch, but it does give a few inches because of the button area. It is nicely structured and is backed with coordinating black courderoy. It is 20" from the bottom of the waistband to the bottom of the hem...a nice flirty-length coat. The hem is about 11 feet around, which gives you lots of twirl and swirl!

For visual reference, I'm 5'3" with a 27" waist and 36" bust, and it fits me nicely.

The panels in this one are a mix of lovely velvet, thick wool, and fancy sparkly materials. This coat is made entirely of sweaters and knits that have been rescued from thrift stores, so they have now been given a second chance at life...kind of like nice, soft, gorgeous zombies ;-) But seriously, when you purchase this coat, you are reducing waste that the environment would otherwise have to contend with, so how cool is that?

***The totally ab-fab elf ears I'm wearing in the last pic are made by an awesome Etsian Alanya Devine! Visit her Etsy shop at "Belethil"***

I've been making Renaissance clothing for several years, and I find that making these coats is really much more exciting than hand-sewing eyelets on a bodice (although dressing for Faire is also tons of fun)! I strive to make quality garments which will last for years, so I double-check all my seams and hand-sew in all of the thread ends, because, really, who wants to think of tying up loose ends when wearing an awesome coat like this one? ;-)

I am quite analytical by nature, and I am happiest when things are symmetrical and uniform, so I use my measuring tools, my dress form, and my straight pins quite liberally when creating my designs. Although I employ all of these techniques, my creations are still hand-crafted, and will definitely have "personality". Be prepared to stand out from the crowd in an Intricate Simplicity design! :-D

I want to give a heart-felt "shout-out" to the awesome Kat at "Katwise" & Lisa Marie at "Enlightened Platypus", whose coats have inspired my creations. Check out their shops here on Etsy for tons of fibery eye candy!

Thanks for stopping by Intricate Simplicity, and remember that it's simple to be "YOU-nique"!
