Heap this handmade indigenous basket with a wild arrangement of dried flowers from your garden, or set a wide, low vase in the center and overflow it with fresh blooms. Or--use it to display a collection of antique dolls or stuffed animals!

This basket was woven with bark, vines, and twigs. Two leaves were incorporated for decoration, but they are no longer intact. I just didn't have the heart to remove them!

I purchased this basket at an estate sale where I was told "Uncle was in Central and South American in the 70's, and I think he brought it back with him then."

I was able to verify only that this style basket is made in Central or South America and is very popular with the tourist trade, but I have only the nephew's words to help me date it. I asked information from a relative of mine in Alaska who weaves baskets, but she'd never seen one like it.

Sorry I don't have more information; but I can tell you that it is uniquely charming and would make a fabulous piece of home decor.

It measures 21" around the opening and 26" around the base. The basket is about 6 1/2" tall and it measures 14" with the handle.

Postage quoted is by USPS Parcel Post from Oregon to the farthest USA zone. Please give me your zip code before check out so I can lower the postage if you live closer. Or, if you want me to send it Priority, I can give you a quote on that price as well.
