Terrific antique larger-than-life cup and saucer, made by the Crown Devon Fielding pottery in Stoke-on-Trent in England and dating to the art deco era of the 1930s or 40s.

This breakfast size cup and saucer is designed for the lover of a good strong cup of tea in the mornings! It is lavishly decorated with a selection of five traditional English country farmhouses, half-timbered and Shakespearian (Ann Hathaway's cottage is depicted inside the cup), thatched or simply ancient and interesting.

The colours are predominantly a soft spring green with brick-red thatch or roofs, cornfield and straw yellow and with a touch of pale blue sky.

This is such a no-nonsense yet unusual and decorative piece, it would be a wonderful feature on a traditional kitchen dresser.

The bases are marked with the Crown Devon Fielding backstamp and the pattern name Olde England. The cup measures 6.5 cm/2.5" high and 11.5 cm/4.5" in diameter, and the saucer is 16.5 cm/6.5" across. Together they weigh 377 gms, and the estimated packaged weight is 750 gms.
