This Framed Black & White photo of Marilyn Monroe while under contract with 20th Century Fox. The Studio nabbed the actress from Howard Hughes' in an early "label war"- of sorts. Hughs interest had been piqued after seeing the unknown bathing suit model, Norma Jean in a Magazine and immediately ordered a screen test of Norma for his own studio, RKO. But rival Ben Lyon beat him to the punch, and her deal with 20th century was inked.

Marilyn on screentests: "No acting, just sex again. I had to wiggle across a room. I practiced jiggling my backside for a week."

The photos are taken from a collection of prints published in 1978, Entitled "Marilyn, A Life In Pictures" by H. Harvey. The photo directors credits reads as follows: The publishers have made every effort to trace the copyright owners of the illustrations but due to the nature of the material has meant that has not always been possible." This particular photo has been credited to courtesy of 20th Century Fox Publicity Stills.

"If we learn from the life of Marilyn Monroe, she will live on in us." Gloria Steinam
