A wonderful small vintage bottle which once contained battery oil. On the front is embossed Edison Battery Oil Made in U.S.A. Thomas A. Edison Incorporated Bloomfield N.J. U.S.A. On the back is the signature in script of Thomas A. Edison.

It measures 4" tall by 1 1/2" base. There are no chip or cracks.

Battery oil was used in conjunction with glass battery jars, which contained a battery surrounded by a conductive solution of either acid or copper sulphate. Battery oil was used to create a thin film of liquid on top of these solutions, to prevent them from evaporating.

The batteries were predominantly used on the railways, to power track and signal circuits, and the vast majority of used Battery Oil bottles have been recovered by collectors from sites near railway tracks.

A must have for any bottle collector.

Mailed U.S.P.S. Priority Mail, Insured.
