Pair of vintage owl decor pieces. First, an Al Wolf cast wall plaque, very dimensional and with modern design. Second, a wee vintage brass owl paperweight.

What on earth is it about owls that makes them so lovable? I can't get enough of their foresty goodness.

The wall hanging measures about 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" and is more deeply 3D than I can properly capture in a photograph. He is a casting from a carving by a Canadian artist, and is made of a composite that feels like shiny slate. On the back there is a tag, and the name Volkert handwritten (perhaps a previous owner). There is also a metal wire for hanging the plaque. This is in good condition, though the back has several chips at the edge, largely invisible when hung, with one at the top corner giving a little dip to the side edge.

The little golden cast brass owl is a charmer, with pulled back wings and well-defined claws. He is very small, measuring only about 2 1/2 inches tall, but he is heavy for his size, weighing more than five ounces and thus standing firmly in place on a shelf or holding papers.

Although rather different in many weighs, somehow these fellows seem to suit each other, and will make a lovely addition to a collection.
