This book is made of vintage brown leather from an old handbag. It was designed to resemble a medieval tome. The center piece is an antique brass frame which features a small decorative painting that I made directly onto the leather. This is protected by matte varnish. The metal brads placed in the corners are made of brass with antique finish. They will allow it to lay flat when opened but the surface of the covers will never enter in contact with the table and thus will protect the decoration from scratching. I saw this system used in old books and I just loved it.

The spine was designed to resemble that of an old book; The raised bands were obtained with strips of leather underneath the one that covers it. It is decorated with metal leaf and patina to fit the aged overlook of this book.

The end pages are made of beautiful decorative paper, brass color with an embossed brown flower pattern.

The book measures 5.5 x 7.3 inches (13.7 x 18.5 cm). It has ~144 pages (288 sides) of white hand torn paper. The paper has 125 gsm and is perfect for writing and sketching in ink and dry media. The edges were toned by me to make the book block fit better the overall antique look of this book.

This journal is an art object. I hope you will love it once you’ll meet it.
