“I have a hammer! I can put things together! I can knock things apart! I can alter my environment at will and make an incredible din all the while! Ah, it's great to be male!” - Bill Waterson

ABOUT THE ITEM

This antique hammer was manufactured by Cheney, probably in the late 1800s. The hammer is in good used condition and has an excellent patina. The head is clearly marked "CHENEY" in all caps (the marking is quite small and took some time to find, but it's there and clear!). The handle is original and does not have any cracks. The head and handle are securely fastened. This is a really well-made piece that has seen lots of use and is still in great shape!

Henry Cheney started a hammer manufacturing shop in the Ingham Mill in Little Falls, NY, in the mid-1800s. The shop was successful, and when Cheney died in 1879, the company continued producing hammers until 1954.
