Anti-Intellectualism in American Life
by Richard Hofstadter.
Vintage Books, 1963.
5.25 x 8"

A very nice example of S. Neil Fujita's signature style graphic design. Only very minor wear to the cover with some underlining to the interior.

About S. Neil Fujita:
Probably best known for his book jackets for "In Cold Blood" and "The Godfather," S. Neil Fujuta's design is typically is defined by bright, bold and colorful abstraction. After Fujita completed his studies at Chouinard in 1949, the then-painter began work with N. W. Ayer in Philadelphia, one of the era's most influential advertising agencies. His work there brought him to the attention of Alex Steinweiss, the design director at Columbia Records who was himself producing some ground-breaking design work for the record industry. Fujita joined Steinweiss at Columbia in 1954, at first adopting Steinweiss's signature style but gradually evolving into his own brand of Modernist graphic. In 1960 Fujita opened his own firm. He taught at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art, as well as at the Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design in New York City. He returned to painting in the 1990s, and passed away at the age of 89 in 2010.
