Description

Catalog #'s: Scott 1633-1682

Postage stamps have always been an offbeat means of tracking important historical and cultural trends and events and this striking pale blue and bright red historic color combo is no exception.

In observance of the American Bicentennial, this striking sheet of stamps depicting the flag of each of the Union's fifty states was issued on February 23, 1976. The state flags are represented horizontally on the sheet in the order in which they entered the Union. The flag of Delaware (the Union's first state) appears in the sheet's upper left corner and that of Hawaii (the Union's last state) appears in the lower right corner. This was the first sheet with fifty different stamps ever issued.

These multicolored 13cent State Flag stamps (Scott 1633-1682) were designed by Walt Reed, printed on the Bureau of Engraving and Printing seven-color Andreotti gravure press (601) as sheets of two hundred subjects, tagged, perforated 11, and distributed as panes of fifty.

Each stamp features the name of the state oriented vertically to the right of the centered state flag, the 13cent denomination over “USA” to the left of the flag, and the Bicentennial logo with the phrase “BICENTENNIAL ERA 1776-1976” under the flag. Mr. Zip, “MAIL EARLY IN THE DAY,” electric eye and registration markings, and six plate numbers, one in each color used to print the sheet, are printed in the selvage.

In this lot you will receive a complete sheet of 50 MNH UNused 13cent postage stamps.

Please note the quantity available in this listing. Buy in bulk! There is more than one sheet available and the more you buy, the more you'll save on shipping!

Not only can these stamps be used to mail highly aesthetic letters, they can be appreciated by philatelic collectors & enthusiasts. They can also be used for decorative paper crafting, card making, collages, scrapbooking, journaling, jewelry making and more!

If you are looking for something in particular please convo me for me details on a custom order.

This was definitely a first for me to receive an LP cover turned into an envelope, containing not only my stamps, but also a few surprises inside. The stamps came out great and the presentation was spectacular! Will definitely do business again in the future
