Authentic and Exceptional Antique German Enamelware Laundry Set
Made in Germany in the late 19th/early 20th century

Original, not a reproduction.

An exceptionally lovely old kitchen laundry set from Germany with the three usual laundry pots: "Seife" (soap), "Sand" (sand), and "Soda" (baking soda). It's hard to imagine a time before laundry soaps and automatic wash machines when laundry was hand washed using even sand to get the dirt and stains out! I especially like this piece because it is so pretty - the blue with black script lettering - and because it tells us so much about how we once lived, not thousands of years ago, but just 130 years ago, during the life-time of our great grandmothers. And this marvelous piece couldn't be in better condition! As you'll see from the photos, there are just a few small rust spots at the bottom of the pots, but it is otherwise in pristine condition!!

I hope this exceptional piece will find a very good home!!!

About French Enameled Ware: "Every piece, for those who can see it, has a fascinating little detail. It can be the shape or the decoration, the color of a flower, a butterfly, a bird trying to catch a bee, a landscape in winter, a sunrise, or simply the elegant curve of a handle or spout that makes it so unique. This unlimited variety of style and design makes French enameled ware so incredibly alive and charming that even people who have not seen it before have to stop and admire it. ... What makes it so special and attractive is the use of colors and wonderful designs, so close to nature or so abstract (depending on the period), but always striving for esthetic and artistic perfection." from French Enameled Ware for the Collector, Yves Moureau and Elyan Reboul, 2003.
