Beautiful gift for mother to be, or anyone who loves dream catchers.
I get many hours of peace and happiness when creating a Dream Catcher Mobile, its what I love to do.
The legend of the dream catcher varies from tribe to tribe, but the basic intention is to allow good dreams to slip through the the center hole and into the sleeper during the night while the bad dreams were caught in the web and would be perished at morning light. The earliest dream catchers, called sacred hoops, were crafted by parents to protect their children from nightmares. Newborns were given charms that were woven in the form of spider webs to protect their dreams so their innocence would not be harmed by the tricksters of the night. The dream catcher charm would be hung from the hoop on the cradle.
Growing up I would go to the swap meet with my family and see dream catchers for sale, the feathers dancing in the light breeze. Always wanting one for my own, I eventually got as many as my heart desired on my journey of self teaching. Large, small, beaded, they can be any color under the sun , I love them all.
The original idea of these dream catcher mobiles came about years ago when I was pregnant with my son. It took me a few years to create the actual piece of art , being the sketches I came up with were stored in a binder for later use. I have so many ideas of things I want to create, but never enough time to do them all at once. Sometimes I wish I had lots of arms like an octopus , so I could create more in a shorter amount of time . My very first mobile found its home in my first nephews nursery, it took me a few more years to actually come across the sketches I had forgotten about to make more of them.
Since my first mobile I have drawn up many more sketches of Mobiles to come in the future, each one I create is unique in its own way.
This is not a toy, please keep out of children's reach.
