This is an original Victorian Era Valentines Day card. It is NOT a reproduction. During the 1890-1920's elaborate Valentine's Day cards were all the rage. They were made with lace, honeycomb paper, scraps of die cut images such as flowers, animals, children, angels, women and hearts. Often they are layered and have paper springs between the layers to give them a popped out 3-D look.

This gorgeous Victorian Valentine is circa 1890. This gorgeous valentine has several layers. With a die cut edges and a forget me not floral design with wreath of lace that are mounted on each other by paper springs which give it a dimensional effect. There are scraps of cupids, flaming hearts and flowers and a sayings, "Life bear for you it's sweetest flowers". In the very center is a scrap of a beautiful woman. It is unused and opens up to show another saying " You can make me happy with one gentle tone, never more to wander, true to you alone". It is in good condition with slight damage here and there. Some of the edges of the paper have small fold creases. Also some small pieces of the laces have torn off on the edges. Measures 7" by 7".
