Phenomenal 1900s 1910s Edwardian gown offered by DaisyAndStella featuring intricate embroidered velvet, sequined lace & silk net! A Downton Abbey dress of your dreams - this gown does not disappoint! Please see my facebook business page @ http://on.fb.me/TCSQ2W for many more pictures that capture the exquisite nature of this dress.

The dress bodice features a front fold-over antique cream net lace collar with embroidered floral motifs embedded with tiny tarnished sequins and covered in brown silk net. The long sleeves are styled with ruched detailing that extends the entire length of the sleeve. Underneath the brown silk, the bodice and sleeves are also covered with a layer of cream net lace embroidered with the flower motifs and tiny sequins (same material as the collar). Underneath the cream net lace is a sturdier and thicker sleeveless cream crochet lace bodice that snaps in place on the backside.

The details do not end here as one of my favorite design elements of this antique gown is the intricate cream and black embroidered velvet panels that extend up the center hem of the skirt to the waistline where they then divide into pointed wings covering the bust! The cream and black velvet embroidery is fashioned into swirling leaf/flower patterns with thin metallic lace also being used in the embroidery!

Black wool panels separate the sides of skirt and the backside features an even more awesome and prominent embroidered velvet panel with the center panel taking center stage with swooping designs resembling hearts that gradually get wider towards the hem!

Eye/hook closures begin on the upper part of the velvet panel skirt (with an insert) to the waistline, where it closes again at the center back with two eye/hooks. The cream net embroidered layer also has some snap and eye/hook closures in addition to the undermost layer of the crochet lace bodice. The brown silk layer is attached to the back sides of the cream net lace layer. A thicker black band is attached around the inner waistline with three eye/hook closures at the back.

Condition: Extraordinary – very good - condition for its age! Wool side panels of skirt have a few very small holes. 1 hole to cream net lace on backside of bodice. Black velvet closure (insert panel on back) has 1 tear and 1 cut. Also 1 tear on velvet near back left side of center panel with a couple stitched repairs. Front left side of brown silk by armpit – small light brown discoloration and a couple small holes.

*Additional info: the top closure of velvet panels on back doesn’t align flat. I pinned the left section across the right instead of using the two eye/hooks. To keep it flat, you would need to move the placement of the eye/hooks.*

Truly a remarkable dress in museum quality condition!

Size: Bust measures up to 33.5” around (measured the inner most crochet underbust). Waist measures 26” max around. Hips measure up to 43” around. From top shoulder seam to hem, dress measures approx. 54 ¼” in length.
