Fabrication Francaise Paris Compote and Candlestick Circa 1880. This is what I found in a box of throw aways, when one of my favorite treasure spots was closing.

The compote and candlestick have the foundry marks Fabrication Francaise Paris, made in Paris France. This was a foundry in Paris which poured French bronzes and iron work in the late 19th Century, early 20th Century, dating these pieces circa 1880. Some where in their past they were painted with cream paint, which is beginning to wear of,refer to photos # 4 and # 5. What do we hear about age...these pieces will get better with time, grow into themselves. These pieces are 132 years young!

The compote measures 10" long X 6" wide, and measures 5" in height ,(from the ground to the top of the wreath). The candlestick measures 11" high and the base is 3 1/2" wide. Their total weight is seven pounds and both pieces are substantial. The same design motif is on both sides of each piece. The compote has a liner, their are no structural damages, the chips that are seen in the photos are chips of paint that have come off through time.

What a piece of history for all the Shabby Chic, Country Cottage, French Country and not to forget the Paris Apartment lovers.

Oh ,if these pieces could talk, can't even imagine the dinner table conversations at the Turn of the Century, where is The Doctor when you need him?
