Need a little pick me up or something fun to wear? The string and pom-pom scarf makes a fun and flirty statement with its bright pink color and texture. Not to mention it also stands for something as it promotes awareness for breast cancer. Give it as a gift to your mom, girlfriend, aunt or yourself! October is breast cancer awareness month and a lot of activities go on during the month to promote awareness and support for people and their families who have gone through life with breast cancer. This string and pom-pom scarf is a great accessory to flaunt at a marathon, relay, support group, at the office or every day wear. The yarn is super soft to the touch with the fleece-like puff balls. It drapes very nicely over your neck and shoulders with the varying lengths of stitches and surprisingly keeps you toasty warm on those chilly fall mornings and nights.

In 2007 at the age of 48, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. It was quite a shock to everyone in our family as we had no history of breast cancer in the family. We soon learned that the majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer didn't have breast cancer in their family history either. Fortunately it was caught early and the cancer hadn't spread to anywhere else in her body. The doctors were able to remove the tumor after one surgery and she was able to keep her breast. She underwent both chemotherapy and radiation treatment. For me, watching her go through chemotherapy treatment was the hardest. I'm sure that is not an uncommon feeling for friends and loved ones who have been in the same situation. I live on the other side of the state from my mom so I wasn't there for her every day of her chemo treatment, but what time I did get to spend with her seemed surreal and found myself asking if this was really happening to my mom. MY mom, the most generous, loving, gracious, kind hearted person I know, how is it possible this is happening to her? Unfortunately cancer doesn't care what kind of person it's killing; it's just trying to survive like every other living thing. Well it's time to put a stop to this killer. Please help support this very worthy cause.
