This set of Silk Hankies are dyed in my Nebula colorway. Each individial color in the colorway is represented on a separate section of hankie. The hankies pictured is the set you will recieve.

This Listing is for a set of silk hankies with a total weight of 1+ oz.

If you are interested in a larger order or different colors, I would love to create some for you, just send me a convo. Please keep in mind that while the colorway is repeatable, each set of hankies will have it's own dfferences in color blending which result in the unique color changes.

SILK HANKIES

I love working with silk hankies! They are super versatile; draft them out thin to spin a beautiful thin lace, draft loosely and spin into art yarn, or even just knit straight from the drafted fiber, no spinning needed!

How to Work with Silk Hankies:
It is best to predraft these before working with them as it can be difficult to draft while spinning. A stack of silk hankies is made up of many layers of silk cocoons that have been stretched over a square frame instead of unraveled like in a silk roving. Start by looking at one corner of your stack and you'll see the layers. Peel up ONE (be sure it's one...they get stuck together ealisy) layer and detach from the stack. It will be VERY thin :) Poke a hole in the center with your fingers then begin to stretch it out to form a rough loop. Once it's in a loop, start in one spot and, working your way around your loop, draft your hankie until it is your desired thickness. You can do this in one pass or multiple. I usually go once around then check it for thick spots. Choose a spot to break your loop and you end up with one continuous length of silk! I like to draft all my hankies out before starting my project so that I can keep them all consistently drafted.

All my fibers come from a non-smoking, non-cat or dog home.
