This handsome, wooden clock dates from around the 1950s. It was made in Great Britain and designed to sit on the mantel

It has been attractively formed with an arched top, concave side and rounded, bottom corners. It measures approximately 20cm x 20cm x 8cm and sits on two, little, triangular feet. It has the odd mark associated with age but has been cleaned and refurbished to give it a new lease of life.

It is made of plywood over which a rich, reddy-brown veneer has been applied. Two, small, gilt ornaments sit left and right, towards the bottom of the clock.

The front contains a nice, round, 15cm face covered in convex glass. The glass has been removed and cleansed front and back. It has the odd mark but is generally in good condition. The chapter ring is a rich cream colour with large, metallic numerals at the quarter hour. The brass bezel had been polished and its heavy tarnishing removed.

The clock's mechanism has been replaced with a new, Quartz, battery operated movement for increased accuracy. The hands are a lovely baby blue in colour with star and moon ends. They really suit the clock. It requires just one AA battery. These are cheap to buy and easy to obtain.

I spend a lot of time restoring my items for sale, in order to get them in their best possible condition. This is a very nice looking little clock with a great vintage look. I'm sure it would add a nice finishing touch to any home.
