About Flapper Girl Lady Ties:
Most of my supplies for these Lady Ties come from a local fabric thrift store in Portland, Oregon called the Knittn' Kitten. I do this not only because I believe in supporting local businesses, but also because I am able to find fabric prints that are unique and often vintage. Due to buying fabric in small quantities from a fabric store of this nature, each Lady Tie design is a limited edition. I am usually able to make between 1 and 8 of each design. Not only does this keep a fresh supply of new tie designs in stock, it means that the tie you are buying is only one of a handful ever made!

The Inspiration Behind Flapper Girl Lady Ties:
While doing research for a term paper about Art Deco, 1920s car culture, and German Expressionist film influences on the Chrysler Building's design, I got sidetracked (as I usually do during research) and found myself looking at fashion of the ’20s—which has always been a favorite pastime of mine. I love all the leading flapper ladies of the era, and while looking at old photos of Marlene Dietrich, I thought to myself, ‘Damn! I forgot how sexy and bad-ass Marlene Dietrich looked in her ties!’ I began making continental-style neck ties for myself, and soon found friends and strangers alike asking about them. I decided to share my inner Marlene Dietrich with the rest of the world by making Lady Ties for anyone who wants to sport one.
