This is such a gorgeous purse, with the peacock pattern on both sides, done in shades of greens, turquoise, reds, black, rose, orange, gold, brown, and antique white, with beautiful roses on either side of the peacock. The stones which are mounted on the frame are all pointed on TOP, and are not chipped or cracked. This purse measures nearly 11" from the tip of the cabochon on the clasp, down to the tip of the last bead on the fringe. It is 5-7/8" at the widest point. I believe this piece to be from the 1920's, if not earlier. It is quite possibly French.

I have this listed as a "project" due to the issues listed below. If you do th more advanced beading, these repairs would not be out of the question to repair. I will point these out to you below and in the last 2 photos:

1. There is one of the cabachons that is missing on the clasp. I believe it is a 4 mm glass sapphire bullet cabochon. We have looked EVERYWHERE for this stone, and it is not to be found. You could replace it with the same type, or both with same period stones.

2. The body of the bag has pulled out of the frame on one side. There doesn't appear to be damage to either part, it has simply pulled out due to wear and usage over the years.

3. There are some of the green beads missing in the single row beading around the inside edge of the frame. I have some of them in a bag of loosened beads I have managed to find.

4. The bottom has 3, and possibly 4 of the individual fringes missing. I have found and secured 2 of the larger, red glass beads, as well as the white and red seed beads. I think this could be remedied by re-working the entire fringed area and spacing the fringe just one beads width all across the bottom to make up for the 3rd and possible fourth missing larger red beads, and it would look as good as the original design.

5. There are a few threads pulled on one side/ bottom corner of the bag. I think they need a thread to be re-woven to secure that area, as there doesn't appear to be any beads missing there.

6. The leather lining is soiled, but otherwise not damaged.

The chain is in excellent condition, and the entire frame / chain is free of rust.

If you are seriously interested in this piece, I can email you larger photos and/or the photo of the loose beads I have saved if you feel that you need them. I have not omitted anything else that I am aware of that is wrong with the purse. I have taken it's condition into consideration when it was priced. Serious offers will be considered.
