A woven seed bead necklace with a most beautiful fleur di lis design! The intricate pattern of this beautiful necklace has great contrasts in simple black with copper lustre beads. Strap length has a repeating pattern of a diamond, arrows an little dot squares. Even the long graceful fringe has both black and copper lustre beads.

The necklace was acquired from an estate purchase and, sadly, exact age in unknown. Best estimate is somewhere c. 1920 - 1939 max (possibly earlier). Laying flat on the table, overall length is 19 inches.

Condition all around is excellent! It is wearable - but all necklace of this style should be worn with care.

The history of the symbolism of the fleur di lis (lily flower) is quite fascinating throughout the ages and many cultures. Wikipedia has a very good write up and I encourage you to read some of the uses and meanings. It is a powerfully symbolic emblem!
