In the "old" days the cooks would put powdered sugar in one of theses shakers and shake it over the muffins they had made and this is why they call these shakers, muffineers.

This one is hand painted and has been trimmed with gold. There are no chips, cracks or repairs.
It measures 3 3/4" tall and 2 1/2" in diameter at the base.

There are hand painted flowers all around and it looks like Cherry Blossoms. At one time there was more gold paint on the top but with age it has worn off. There is no stopper. It is still a very lovely old muffineer.

Some ladies now use these pieces as hatpin holders or they use them as talcum shakers, another modern day use would be to use if for grated parmesan cheese.
