Hand Carved Wood Brooch has also been hand painted by Yoneguma Takahashi and his wife Kiyoka painted the birds.

I believe this is a Bluebird

This bird has beautiful Blue, Red, Ivory and Black markings. Bird sits on a wood pearch with the legs of twisted copper wire.

Clasp is vintage and is attached with 2 push pins not screws.

Brooch measures 1 " x 1 7/8" and the condition is very good.

The story of the carver Yoneguma Takahashi and painter his wife Kiyoka Takahashi are documented in the new book, The Inspiring Story of TAKAHASHI Bird Pins, by Julia Carroll and Carol Takahashi.

Carol Takahashi is the granddaughter of the artists.
