Fabulous brick red bakelite necklace, circa 1930. The beads show some translucency and striation in the sun, I notice this in the smaller beads.

Total length is about 34 inches. The largest bead measures 1 3/8 inches long and has a diameter of 3/4 of an inch. The smallest measures 1/4 of an inch in diameter and a length of 3/8 of an inch.

Weight is 97.5 grams on my scale.

The clasp is screw set into a bakelite bead which fits securely into its socket. Tested with 409, light yellow residue on the q tip.

Strung on flat, thick woven thread that seems to be waxed. I do not see any weak areas or fraying. About 3/8 of inch of play in the thread, but this lets the beads move freely.

These beads are in excellent vintage condition with only minor wear. They have been stored for decades in a soft cloth bag, they were my grandmother's and I never saw her wear them. I believe I can recall a photo where she had them on as a young woman. Hair and clothes were from the late 1930s early 1940s.
