(1) Notable Women in the American Theatre, 1989, edited by Alice M. Robinson, Vera Mowry Roberts and Milly S. Barranger, provides information on some 300 women whose careers in American theater have been significant.
From Adams, Maude (1972-1953) actress, to Zipprodt, Patricia (1925-1999) costume designer, this book outlines the careers and achievements of women in the American theatre who have either been born in or spent the major portion of their careers in America.
This book does not have a dust jacket. It is in very good condition and shows very little shelf wear. It has 993 pages and measures 6 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 9 1/2."

(2) In The American Woman Playwright A View of Criticism and Characterization, 1981, Judith Olauson examines the work of 17 American women playwrights active from 1930 to 1970.
Olauson traces the evolution from traditional to experimental drama for the following dramatists: Zoe Akins, Clare Boothe, Jane Bowles, Rachel Crothers, Rosalyn Drexler, Rose Franken, Susan Glaspell, Lorraine Hansberry, Lillian Hellman, Fay Kanin, Adrienne Kennedy, Myrna Lamb, Carson McCullers, Rochelle Owens, Elsa Shelley, Megan Terry, Sophie Treadwell.
This book is in very good condition. There is no dust jacket, and there is a price in ink on the flyleaf. There are some slight indications of foxing and the spine is faded. It has 182 pages and measures 6 1/4" x 7/8" x 9 1/4."

(3) Women in American Theatre, 1981 by Helen K. Chinoy and Linda Walsh considers the creative and communal rolls of women in American theatre: actress, director, playwright, critic.
This ambitious anthology of 50 essays, most of them written for this publication, are organized under the following headings:
Female Rites,
The Actress,
Where are the Women Playwrights?,
If not an Actress, What . . . ?,
Feminist Theatre.
The Sourcebook and References parts of this volume include Awards, Playlist, Feminist Theatres, Text Notes, and lists of Books By and About Women in Theatre, Dissertations on Women in American Theatre and Film, Video and recording Resources. There are 83 black and white photographs.
The book and its dust jacket are in good condition although there is are signs of foxing and browning of pages throughout. The book has 370 pages and measures 6" x 1 1/2" x 9 1/4."
