The year is 1934. FDR is president, dust storms ravage the Great Plains, and gangsters John Dillinger and “Pretty Boy” Floyd are permanently put out of commission by FBI agents. It is also the same year that some youngster carried this book to class daily.

New Paths part of the Modern World Readers Series by Wendell W. Wright, PH. D., Ralph N. Tirey and Faye Crites with Illustrations by Rhoda Chase. Published by the Johnson Publishing Company in 1934. This book is hardbound in vibrant orange boards with the title printed in green and navy on both the front cover and the spine. This 1930s primer measures 7¾ by 5¾ by 1 inch and has 448 numbered pages, including over 40 separate color illustrations of various size.

This book is in very good condition. The cover is slightly dirty and the spine is a bit faded. There are a few stray stains and markings on the inner pages including faint pencil writing on the inside cover. The binding is tight and all pages are secure.
