Traditionally worn by tradesmen, happi coat have become better associated with matsuri (festivals) these days. However, they are also worn by some in the traditional way in shops or restaurants.

This one is antique, pre-WWII. It is completely hand made, including hand dyed.

The dye is indigo, still deep and dark blue. A resist dye technique known as tsutsugaki* was used to create the crest which maybe is a type of kamon, but I am not sure. It is quite unusual.

*Tsutsugaki is a method of resist dyeing which involves applying rice flour and water paste to a fabric using a conical tube.

The size is approximately medium, please check the measurements carefully.
