A juban is basically underwear worn under kimono. This one is interesting as it is a cotton, handmade robe probably worn under cotton kimono. It's a wonderful folk textile with lots of antique, rustic character.

Dating back to around Meiji Era (late 1800s to 1900s), this would have belonged to a peasant and would have been made at home.

There are a variety of fabrics used, including a red lining. It is relatively thick (but not heavy).

The size is apporox. small to medium. But, please check the measurements :
Length: 120cm
Width (back): 58cm
Width (cuff to cuff): 120cm
Sleeve length: 31cm
