Snug-fitting colourful skull cap handknitted in very soft 4 ply alpaca wool to my own original design, based on traditional Fairisle patterns.

The idea comes from a hat worn by the wildlife photographer Simon King in a series of programmes about the Shetland Islands - and I hope I don't get sued for breach of copyright for using his book cover!

The alpaca wool I use is from Town End Alpacas in Cumbria and comes in a range of undyed natural fleece colours. For this cap I have used the grey and black shades, with some cream for contrast.

A note on size: the caps measure 22" around the brim; they do not have a ribbed edging like the berets so are not as stretchy, but they will expand to around 24".
