This cape racer sled design was apparently first invented by Martin Van Buren Gray on Cape Rosier in the mid-1800’s though some believe its origin goes back further.

The sled is hand made with oak and finish coated with exterior spar urethane to prevent snow and water damage. The runners are finished with a steel strip to protect them and add some very fast speed. It could be extremely fast on the right snowy conditions.

We found a very interesting article on the history of the cape racer sleds from a newsletter in Brooksville, Maine.

Delivery within 50 miles of St. Louis, MO would be at no charge.
