Teal blue & vibrant yellow green Budgerigar feathers - combined with the black of the Moor Oak (Bog Oak). A incredible pair of feather earrings - happy & stunning & one off!

This pair is eco-friendly as I only use feathers I find in nature - I can not buy feathers from "feather factories" as I call them - it does not only hurt my soul.

The Budgerigar 'Australian Love Bird' (so named because of its habit of "kissing" its mate) is native to Australia and we came across huge flocks during our last winter walk about.
These flocks fly with incredible speed and their call is unmistakeable. Most people know it as domestic bird, for me it is a wild bird in Central Australia. Small or big flocks passing by in high speed with lots of sound (as I would not call it noise) like a big shadow of vibrant green washing along the blue sky of the Outback.
Sometimes it was breathtaking.

Budgerigars are happy birds - they radiate acceptance, joy and spontaneity.
There essence is unconditional love, affection, trust and companionship.

We have never come across feathers of this lovely bird before, this last walkabout we found
quite a few. This is the second pair I am offering - it took me ages to match the feathers for this pair. They are not 100% identical but pretty close.
But I am truly happy - as it turned out stunning.

I combined the feathers with Moor Oak - I drilled four tiny holes and stitched the feathers on adding a small Hematite bead. It will never come apart (says the tailor from far back).
Moor Oak is an Oak tree which was hidden in a swamp for around 1000 years; it turned black but is not petrified yet.
My Dad collected a large piece of Moor Oak 30 year ago in Austria – he never sold or gave it away. When I started making jewelry 9 year ago, he started to send me pieces to work with.
This act and the Moor Oak is precious and beautiful!
The Moor Oak is cut, shaped, sanded, drilled and oiled by me.

A beautiful combination of two precious gifts.
Thank you little feathered friends and thank you Dad.
