Bloom: Spring- Late Summer

These lavish purple-black beauties have been conjured up in my auntie's garden without chemicals or pesticides.

Black to dark maroon blossoms exhibit vivid and everlasting colors that lasts for weeks in your garden years when dry. As if my magic, this plant can withstand a variety of conditions including drought, poor soil, and high wind. Edible petals make stunning garnishes and plants will self-sow at the end of the season(you may also harvest seeds and re-sow).
This glorious annual grows on productive and stable plants that reach up to 30 inches if left untrimmed. Flowers bloom on compact bushes that need no special soils, special fertilizers, or extra maintenance. After being sown in the yard, cornflowers will grow on their own without support or clipping. You may choose to remove spent or faded flowers to extend their flowering period well into the early fall.

Cornflowers are also know as 'Bachelor's Buttons' and retain both their shape and color after they are dried. This special feature makes them the perfect choice for everlasting bouquets, wreaths, and arrangements. Flowers will look as if they were picked yesterday despite being dried and kept for years. My mother loves to weave our cornflowers into wreaths and share them with friends on July 4th and Veteran's day.
Whether you'd like to grow them for your garden or dry them for yourself or another special person, cornflowers are the perfect low maintenance choice for gardeners and crafters alike.

In order to save seeds, you can wait until seed pods form and dry. Gently harvest the seed pods and open them over a plastic bag or a newspaper. Collect the new seeds to plant again or gift to someone special!

Each hand designed and child decorated packet contains at least 15 organic homegrown seeds! Each seed packet features it's own special image drawn by our residential little artists! We do not use pesticides or chemicals in our garden!

Shipping costs cover the base shipping and the handling- this includes production of seed packets, seed harvesting, and preservation. We also isolate plants to ensure strain purity and harvest, dry, and clean each seed pod by hand! All the best, because we care!

Nothing has grown out after seeding 2 months ago.

    Sophie's Seeds and Swine responded

Hello there! We are very sorry to hear that your seeds did not spout. We test all of our seeds at the BEES Garden program within our community to ensure a germination of at least 75% or higher. Okra tend to be difficult to spout, so I highly recommend all growers to nick or score the seeds, soaking them at least 24 hours prior to sowing, as noted in our instructions. With that technique, my seeds sprout nearly all the time!

I was extremely disappointed with the shiso seeds that I purchased. Now the shiso leaves have grown and turned out to be completely different than Japanese ones. The product description and photo indicated "Japanese" shiso, but the ones growing right now has different shapes and seems to be either Korean shiso or something else and does not have any smell or taste of Japanese shiso at all.
Also, the Okura seeds that I purchased appeared to be already dead as seeds and nothing has came out even after following seeding instructions correctly. Extremely disappointed with both seeds!

    Sophie's Seeds and Swine responded

Hello there! All of our shiso seeds come from a single elderly grower in our neighborhood collective. We noticed that she accidentally mixed up two of her varieties when providing seeds, hence we obtained correct seeds and offered a replacement, since our charity-based company does not offer refunds per our store policies. Unfortunately, we were sorry to hear that you denied the replacement and sought to leave us negative feedback. We offered replacements of the correct seeds, yet were forced to withdraw due to the intimidating messages we were received. We highly recommend all buyers to communicate courteously in the future so that we may make amends in case of errors. Our goals are to spread smiles and sprouts, and we are always open to help! We likewise hold the right to withdraw services from assertive customers.
