In Victorian times, dark red signified passionate devotion and loyalty. In Catholic symbolism, a red rosary refers to the passion and blood of Christ. In this rosary, you have both.

Carefully crafted, this delicate 1940s-50s rosary is in such good condition it astounds me every time I look at it. The gold plating is well in place, and the lines of Mary's profile in the center show no wear. The back of the crucifix shows some wear along the edges of the crosspiece. It's almost as if the rosary hasn't been used!

And, if you're looking at the picture which shows the back of the crucifix, and you are asking yourself: Is that a hallmark stamped on the bottom there? You are right, it is-- the maker's hallmark signifying gold plating.

The beads are faceted, dark red glass, 5mm in diameter. The chain and wire is in extremely good condition and no beads are missing. The rosary measures 16.5" long from end to end. It could be worn as a necklace.

The rosary comes in a 2.5"x1.75" dark brown leather case which appears to be original to rosary. The snap is in fine working order, and the leather is in good condition.

This is a wonderful rosary and is stunning shape. And you even get a leather case to go with it!

Blessings to you and yours!
