A wooden log bench made from beech tree remnants in a German forest, and called a "Praying Mantis" by my children. Hand finished, oiled, and rubbed to a gloss. My two and three year olds thought the front leg was a grand handhold by which their creature could be dragged around with them on their daily rounds. Length is 26" x 13" width x 17 " height. Seat height is 8 1/2inches. Diameter at the thick end is 6 inches, approx.

This item is an exemplar only, it is not for sale. A new bench would be a custom order, similar but not exactly identical to the one shown here. It would be completed in six to eight weeks from the time an order is received, probably made from Pennsylvania maple or oak, unless another specie of wood is desired. Delivery will depend partly on finding appropriately formed pieces to maintain the spirit and appearance of this keepsake.
