These heavy Japanese tea cups have been in my family for several decades. Can't believe they've survived this long. Very minimalist and very Japanese.

They are very unusual in that all three pieces are very large, I believe meant for traditional tea ceremony. They are coordinating in that they all have the same celadon green color on the inside of each cup.

I do not know what the three kanji characters mean on the taller piece. Let me know if you can read them. I showed all three symbols in #'s 1,4, & 5. All three kanji are intricately hand carved into the cup, not painted on the surface.

The fourth photo shows the back side of the two shorter pieces. Both pieces with orange flower motifs are hand carved into the clay before firing.

There is a production flaw on the bottom of the third cup. See photo # 3. It is an open fissure that was apparently caused during the firing process. It is about 1/8" deep and doesn't affect the use of the cup.

Other than the above, all three pieces are in near mint vintage condition. No cracks, chips etc. except for the fissure.

Taller cup is 3 1/4" diameter x 4" tall. Shorter blue cup is just shy of 3 1/2" diameter x 3 3/4" tall. Tan color cup is 3 1/2" diameter x 3 1/2" tall. All measurements are approximate.

The photos can't truly convey the hand crafter artisan beauty of these pieces.

Please feel free to convo me with any further questions or photos.

These will be sent to U.S. residents in a large flat rate box.
