5 x 7 in
mixed media on paper

This little collage is part of a series I did on travel. I used cool old maps that I found at a recycled-book store in Kyoto, tissue paper, and my collage staple: brown package paper (will I ever get enough of it?).

"Voyage" also includes scraps from train time-tables, so to complete the feeling of going on a trip, I looked in the dictionary for words evoking travel. In a clever word associative fashion, I inlcuded the words before and after the travel word. It reads "vowel, voyage, voyeur." Makes perfect sense.

The kanji on the map, amid the criss-crossing lines, reads from right to left, and is the Japanese name for India, "Indo" (it's the Indian Ocean).

This piece is mixed paper glued with archival "Yes" paste to archival paper, sealed with gloss medium, and signed.

It is framed in a simple wooden frame with glass, but can easily be sold and shipped without the frame ($10 for the collage, $2 for shipping) -- just contact me.

Thanks so much for looking!
