This salt glazed pitcher was fired in a groundhog salt kiln at Luck's Ware in Seagrove, NC. It was fired at the front of the kiln which is the hottest part since it's right at the fire. Salt and borax were blown into the door of the kiln with a modified leaf blower towards the end of the 12 hour firing.

The pitcher measures nearly 8" tall and 3.5" across the bottom. The copper glaze is made with volcanic ash and fires out green or red depending on the amount of reduction in the kiln's atmosphere. The clay body produces a light tan color with some green ash runs shown in the first photo. The bottom is signed "Luck's Ware 2009 Laura Bristow Beavers". This is a piece that was on consignment that I picked up last week.

This pitcher is called a Rebekah pitcher, named after the Bible story of Rebekah at the well.

I will reduce your shipping costs as much as possible on multiple purchases!
