This is one of those cases where I just know this man was somebody important, but I’ve been unable to identify him (I also have a cabinet card of the same man that I’m selling separately). In this picture, the bearded man has been seated at a table and is engrossed in a book.

Photographer is “Metcalf & Welldon” of Boston (this firm was one of the most prolific working on the East Coast).

The image is in very good condition, but I do see what looks like a faint fingerprint towards the bottom right corner. The card is also in very good condition.
